Based on the huge succes of the original SER-HV model line, Xpansion Instruments proudly presents
the introduction of the new SER2 model line of SER Universal Testing Platforms. Each SER2 unit
comes with a specific set of rheometer adapters so that
it can be used as a detachable fixture on a given host rheometer system.
Beginning with the
launch of the SER2 model line, all sales and marketing of the various SER2 models will be
handled by the respective instrument manufacturers on whose host system the SER2 model will
be accommodated. Xpansion Instruments will still handle sales and marketing responsibilities
for custom SER2 models for use on legacy host platforms no longer supported by the original
instrument manufacturer.

The model SER2-P has been adapted
for use on the
Anton Paar
MCR 300/301/500/501 line of
rotational rheometer systems, and can be easily accommodated within
the CTD450/600/1000 environmental chamber of the MCR host system
for controlled temperature testing. Because its drums
are cantilevered and suspended from the SER2 base chassis, the model
SER2-P
is also capable of fluid immersion testing.

The model SER2-A has been adapted
for use on the TA Instruments/Rheometrics
ARES-G2, ARES, RDA-3, and RDA-2
rotational rheometer host systems, and can be easily accommodated within
the ARES-G2/ARES/RDA-3/RDA-2 environmental chamber
for controlled temperature testing. The model SER2-A is not configured for
fluid immersion testing.

Unlike the original
SER-HV model line that had hard-fixed (non-removable) drums, the new SER2 model line has
detachable drums that
can be configured from any number of materials of construction, surface
coatings and textures, as well as drum dimensions. Because the SER2 drums are fully
detachable, polymer sample clean-up from the drum surfaces has never been easier -
even for the most challenging
of polymer residues, simply remove the drums and soak them in an appropriate solvent bath
for complete sample removal. Whether its sample clean-up, improved sample
gripping, or controlled surface properties measurements, the detachable drum
feature of the SER2 gives the user tremendous flexibility and breadth
of capability with regard to
physical material characterization.
Note that each SER2 model comes standard with a
set of SER2-DS drums.

The SER2-DS drum set that comes standard
with each SER2 model consists of 2
precision ground drums constructed of hardened,
surgical grade stainless steel. These drums are well suited for
extensional melt rheology measurements where polymer sample clean-up can often
be challenging. Each drum has an OD of 0.406 inches (10.3 mm). |

The SER2-DK drum set consists of 2
fine-knurled drums constructed of hardened, surgical grade stainless steel.
These drums are useful in gripping soft semi-solid samples during extensional
rheology or tensile measurements with the SER2. Each drum has a nominal OD
of 0.406 inches (10.3 mm).

The SER2-DR drum set consists of 2
rough textured (similar to a 120-grit sandpaper in texture) drums
constructed of surgical grade stainless steel.
These drums are useful in gripping soft solid samples or biomaterials during extensional
rheology or tensile measurements with the SER2, particularly during fluid
immersion testing. Each drum has a nominal OD
of 0.406 inches (10.3 mm).
